What it’s Like in Puerto Rico

Living in Puerto Rico is different from the states. There are natural waterfall slides, close beaches, Palmas, and everything is in Spanish! Welcome to my blog! Today is going to be all about living in Puerto Rico.

Let’s start with Charco Frío,  which has a natural waterslide I live about an hour away from Charco Frío. This is a place that starts with a hike through the forest and mud and water, but it is all worth it once you make it there. Once entered, there is a rope swing into the water, but that’s the first. You can go tombstoning, this is cliff jumping, but it is pretty low. Now there is a smaller hike higher up the mountain, noting that the hike can be pretty dangerous without being careful. There is a natural waterslide that is pretty smooth! It is fun to go on, but the only thing to remember is to swim left every time, so you don’t hit the side of a cliff! And making sure not to let the wave take you too far or you’ll fall (which almost happened to me twice). The last thing is a much higher cliff jump, it is much higher than the first one, and so not even me or my brothers went on it, but next time, I will go!

Puerto Rico has a multitude of beaches and it would be pretty hard to go to all of them. Here in Puerto Rico, I’ve been to four beaches, two in Palmas, and two outside of it. The beaches in Palmas can be pretty long, and it can be dangerous due to people outside of Palmas coming through the beach into Palmas because sometimes they attack people. Now the beaches outside of Palmas, like Luquillo beach, have pretty big waves. This is awesome for surfing, at least for me because I am a beginner, and that beach is beautiful. It can be hard to get me to go to beaches because of the sand, but for surfing, I’d go almost every time.

Living in Palmas is different from the rest of Puerto Rico. Palmas is a place with a ton of little complexes where people live. In Palmas, there are many things to do like the beaches, the tennis courts, the gyms, the beach club, with many other mini things to do like WyldLife, Running Club, and many more! A lot of people speak English here, as I said before. There is also a school called Palmas Academy, but I’ve never gone before because we decided to homeschool.

Lastly, everything is in Spanish! It can be good and bad sometimes because if you don’t learn, it can be difficult to communicate with a lot of people outside of Palmas. In Palmas, many things are in English, which is also good and bad. It is best for anyone moving to Puerto Rico to learn Spanish to communicate and to just learn another language!

Puerto Rico is a small place with many activities to get out of it! From cliff jumps to Running Club, Puerto Rico can be a great place to live! As long as you are careful, you’ll have tons of fun and make a lot of friends.
